Alpha-lipoic acid is a natural antioxidant.
It has many uses as a supplement, for exercise (thought to improve carbohydrate metabolism), for blood sugar problems (e.g. type II diabetes) and as an anti-ageing supplement as it can inhibit glycosylation, which is why it is also used to keep skin (and other tissues) supple.
