Valfrids has been importing Aroniada’s aronia since 2014—arguably the finest in the world. What makes it so unique?

Aroniada is a family-owned, artisanal business with a long tradition of growing aronia berries and making various products from them. They have a unique pressing technique developed in-house, which uses cold pressing to extract maximum nutrition from the fresh berries. The important thing is that the berries are pressed immediately after harvest —that way, no time is wasted, and the berries don’t need to be frozen for transport (other aronia products are usually made from frozen berries that come from many different growers and are transported frozen to a factory). Aroniada can also harvest the berries when they are at their peak of ripeness when nutrition is at a maximum, as you only have a few minutes from bush to press.

In the Bulgarian countryside, located in southern latitudes, the climate is sunny and warm. This allows the berries to get plenty of sun and to reach a high level of ripeness and concentration. That’s why our aronia has a richer flavor and is less tart. It is neither sweetened nor flavored in any way. It is not diluted either. The bottle contains only 100% pure aronia juice—no preservatives, no additives.

It is completely organic. The land where it is grown has never been sprayed or fertilized.

Virtually all scientific research on polyphenols that has used aronia as a source of polyphenols has been conducted using this particular variety, as it is considered to have a high and stable content of beneficial polyphenols.

Aronia is said to be Europe’s own superberry. It has a long history of use in Eastern Europe, Germany and Russia for a variety of ailments. Its positive effects on the cardiovascular system, etc. are well known.
