Citicoline Cognizin® Helhetshälsa 60 capsules

Citicoline Cognizin® from Helhetshälsa—for the brain and memory

Citicoline Cognizin® is a product for the brain and memory. For mental performance and cognitive function.
Citicoline, also known as CDP-choline, is a special form of the essential nutrient choline, an organic molecule that occurs naturally in the body and is particularly important for the brain. It is easily converted into acetylcholine and phosphatidylcholine—important substances in the brain.

Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that enables the transmission of nerve signals in the brain.
Phosphatidylcholine is the main component of brain cell membranes.

There are several scientific studies suggesting that citicoline may have neuroprotective effects, potentially improving learning and reducing the risk of brain damage and even slowing down Alzheimer’s. See links at the bottom.

Also contains zinc, pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) and vitamin C.
Cognizin® is a registered trademark of KYOWA HAKKO BIO CO., LTD in Japan.

Choline and citicoline ameliorate oxidative stress in acute kidney injury in rats

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/366344735_Choline_and_citicoline_ameliorate_oxidative_stress_in_acute_kidney_injury_in_rats

“The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway (CAP)-activating drugs, choline and citicoline (Cytidinediphosphate-choline, CDP-choline), on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute kidney injury (AKI) parameters.

Results: LPS-induced elevations of ROS levels were decreased by CDP-choline or choline administration.”

Protective effect of CDP-choline on hypotension and tissue injury in septic shock model

“CDP-choline is an endogenous molecule and also a drug that is used in several trauma and ischemic conditions. It has been demonstrated that it improves the hemodynamic parameters in different shock models and prevents tissue damage in rats. ”

Efficacy of Souvenaid in Mild Alzheimer’s Disease: Results from a Randomized, Controlled Trial

“In vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated that supplementation with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) or eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), uridine (as uridine monophosphate [UMP]), and choline not only increase phosphatide synthesis, but also increase neurite outgrowth, levels of specific pre- or post-synaptic proteins, and the number of dendritic spines, all prerequisites

for new synapse formation. Furthermore, B vitamins as co-factors enhance endogenous precursor synthesis via the regeneration of methyl groups, therefore affecting the availability of precursors and potentially synaptogenesis. The administration of combinations of phospholipid synthesis-promoting nutrients has also been shown to enhance cognitive function and neurotransmitter release in animal models.”

Improved Attentional Performance Following Citicoline Administration in Healthy Adult Women

“Conclusion: After 28 days of daily citicoline supplementation, participants who were administered either the 250 mg or the 500 mg citicoline doses showed significantly better ability to produce correct responses on the CPT-II, likely due to improved cognitive inhibition. Our findings suggest that citicoline may improve attentional performance in middle-aged women and may ameliorate attentional deficits associated with central nervous system disorders.”
