Glucosamine, MSM and Chondroitin – 180 capsules – NOW

Used for joint health. Often used to relieve pain and stiffness in joints, especially in osteoarthritis.

Glucosamine has been used traditionally to reduce inflammation in joints and to protect and preserve cartilage.

Many users report improved mobility and reduced joint pain.

Valfrid’s experience from talking to customers who use glucosamine is that many of them became more mobile and experienced less pain. It seems to have helped rebuild cartilage, improve mobility, reduce pain and inflammation. The effect varies from person to person. Some even avoided surgery. We’ve also heard from many customers that they’ve had good results from chondroitin, which this supplement also contains. The same goes for MSM, organic sulphur, which is an important component of joints, skin, cartilage and mucous membranes. MSM is also important for our cell membranes and for liver function. We think this supplement is a smart combination of these substances.

Scientific references, effect of Glucosamine

Osteoarthritis

– Study 1: A 2010 systematic review and meta-analysis found that glucosamine may have a small to moderate effect on pain relief and functional improvement in knee osteoarthritis.

– Study 2: A 2015 Cochrane review showed that glucosamine may have little to no effect on pain and function in knee and hip osteoarthritis.

Inflammatory Markers:

– A study published in the Journal of Pain Research in 2013 showed that glucosamine does not significantly affect inflammatory markers, but can improve symptoms related to inflammation.

Combination treatments:

– Study 1: The combination of glucosamine and chondroitin has been shown to be more effective than placebo in some studies in relieving symptoms of osteoarthritis.

– Study 2: Another study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2006 found no significant benefit of the combination treatment over placebo for most patients.

Long-term effect and disease progression:

– Study 1: Some long-term studies have suggested that glucosamine may slow down the breakdown of cartilage in joints, although the results are variable and inconclusive.
– Study 2: A 2003 review published in the Archives of Internal Medicine suggested that glucosamine may reduce disease progression in osteoarthritis, but called for more research to confirm the findings.

In conclusion, traditional use of glucosamine shows some agreement with scientific studies in terms of pain relief and improved mobility in osteoarthritis.
