Tandbergista Hifi, speaker cabinets and wood oil – for all the natural wood surfaces you care about.
Tandbergista’s wood oil was originally developed for use on hi-fi equipment, especially speaker cabinets and wood panels on vintage and high end stereo equipment that you care about. It protects and moisturizes the wood, maintains its natural surface and does not leave a waxed finish. In many cases, you want to retain the natural wood surface, and Tandbergista oil is perfect for this. It does not need to be re-polished and does not leave a high gloss. It penetrates the wood relatively quickly and restores its natural shine.
It is suitable for all untreated wooden surfaces, including furniture and cutting boards. As it is completely natural, you don’t need to wear protective gloves or worry about using it in the kitchen, for example on a wooden chopping board. Smells good of lemon. Warm it slightly in a water bath or in your hand to make it easier to apply, if it is viscous when used (hardens slightly in the cold).
A tweak for your speakers? – We have heard from users that “my speakers sound better after using the oil”, well that’s not impossible at all, a healthy and moisturized wood has a different resonance than brittle and dry! Even if we only apply the oil to a few millimeters of thin veneer.
Use:
Apply with a rag or cotton cloth that does not lint. Allow the oil to absorb, then reapply if necessary after a while. See how much the wood absorbs. Use just the right amount (do not soak the surface). Keep in mind that it contains a certain amount of linseed oil, so dispose of the rags in the same way as you would with linseed oil-soaked rags, although the risk of spontaneous combustion is small in this case.
To maintain the natural beauty and freshness of the wood, apply regularly, once every six months or a year. It depends on the condition of the wood how much it absorbs. Sometimes several applications are needed, for example on brand new veneer or very dry wood. For maintenance, a small amount and one application is enough.
Tandbergista is a blogger who runs Tandbergista, which is about the restoration of vintage hifi, with a focus on the Norwegian brand Tandberg. Tandbergista is also the founder of Valfrids. So you could say that this is our own product, which we use ourselves and have long experience of. This is because the Tandberg appliances that Tandbergista restores often have a very beautiful, natural (not lacquered or hard waxed) veneer that you want to preserve, and then this oil is the best there is.
Handmade in Sweden for Tandbergista and Valfrids.
