About Valfrids

Leather and wood are like your skin, you don’t want to use solvents and toxic chemicals on them!

It all started back in 2008, when Valfrids founder Jens, was going to oil a teak table – with a solvent-based wood oil. It was done indoors, the smell was unbearable and caused headaches. This led to the realization that solvent-based and chemical products are not so good, neither for the wood nor for the people who use them.

” With a large collection of vintage boots from the 70s, it was then natural to ask, what to use on them, if you don’t want to use the cheap and thinner smelling creams you find in shoe stores? With little experience of such chemicals, and a growing collection of boots that are 50 years old, made from really high quality leather, it was a matter of choosing the right one.

The search for the ultimate in quality footwear products led to Tapir in Germany. Leather is a natural product and you don’t want to use petrochemical solvents on it. After using Tapir privately for many years, on my collection of vintage boots and leather jackets, I ended up selling them in Scandinavia and introducing these great products to others.

In addition, I used to run the bag brand Hildeståhl, with a collection of handmade leather bags, using leather from top quality European tanneries. There, the appreciation for craftsmanship, natural materials and artisanal traditional production was awakened. And of course, caring for them properly. “

Since then, the Valfrids range has grown to include products for furniture, antiques, home, car and outdoor life.

Valfrids philosophy

“Buy cheap and buy twice”, they say. Valfrids advocates instead – buy quality, buy fewer things and take care of them.
Taking care of something of quality also gives you a sense of satisfaction.
It is also a “boot” to the throwaway society, where much of what is sold is actually just junk.
