DAOfood Plus 60 capsules – for histamine sensitivity<\/span><\/h2>\n

DAOfood Plus 60 capsules contain the DAO enzyme (diamine oxidase), vitamin C, and the flavonoid quercetin.
\n<\/span>When you take DAOfood Plus before a meal, you supply the enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO), which the body uses to break down histamine.<\/span><\/p>\n

The enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO)<\/span><\/h3>\n

The body primarily uses the DAO enzyme (diamine oxidase) to break down histamine, as well as other biogenic amines in the gut, which come from food or are produced by gut bacteria. More specifically, DAO is primarily active in the small intestine, where it breaks down histamine, and it is found mainly in the intestinal mucosa, where it plays a role in maintaining the intestinal barrier. <\/span><\/p>\n

Quercetin<\/span><\/h3>\n

Quercetin, a flavonoid, is a natural yellow pigment found in plants. There are many different studies that have examined how quercetin acts as an antioxidant and how it affects the body\u2019s immune system. <\/span>Flavonoids, also known as bioflavonoids, are a family of chemical compounds that belong to the group of polyphenols found in many plants. We are experts in polyphenols, as you may know from our aronia products. <\/span>Polyphenols and flavonoids are naturally found in fruits and vegetables such as apples, onions, blueberries, lingonberries, blackberries, cranberries, raspberries, red and black currants, citrus fruits, and green tea, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Due to their distinct chemical structures, different bioflavonoids vary in their functions and interactions with other substances. In fact, quercetin\u2014which is closely related to the flavonoid kaempferol\u2014is the most active and well-known of all bioflavonoids.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is histamine?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Under certain conditions, bacteria in the gut can convert some proteins into biogenic amines. These are chemical compounds that can form in food if there is a high concentration of specific amino acids and if the food is stored in a way that promotes the growth of certain bacteria, such as in warm conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of these biogenic amines is histamine, which bacteria produce from the amino acid histidine. Histamine can also be produced in the body, where it acts as a signaling molecule within the immune system, among other things, and is broken down relatively quickly. The amount of histamine in a food product can vary from one batch to another, as factors such as long storage times, storage conditions, and hygiene affect the breakdown process. The body normally metabolizes and breaks down histamine from food in the intestines before it enters the bloodstream. But some people can’t handle this and become histamine-sensitive. DAOfood Plus contains 60 capsules per package.
\n<\/span>Each capsule (Efi-kapsel\u00ae) contains two small tablets that are resistant to the acidic pH of the stomach and can pass through the gastrointestinal tract to release diamine oxidase (DAO enzyme) at the correct location in the intestine. <\/span> <\/p>\n

Each capsule contains:
\n<\/span>2 tablets containing the DAO enzyme \u2013 diamine oxidase (white\/beige color).
\n<\/span>1 tablet containing quercetin (yellow).
\n<\/span>1 tablet containing Vitamin C (orange\/brown).<\/span><\/p>\n

Ingredients in DAOfood Plus:
\n<\/span>Fillers: microcrystalline cellulose and hydroxypropyl cellulose, quercetin 95%, potato starch, L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C), coating agent: ethylcellulose, protein extract from pig kidney containing 7% diamine oxidase (DAO enzyme), <\/span>fillers: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, stabilizers: magnesium salts of fatty acids and sodium alginate, rice starch, medium-chain triglycerides, stabilizers: fatty acids (E570) and dicalcium phosphate, color: E150d, vegetable capsule: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recommended daily intake:
\n<\/span>Take 1 capsule of DAOfood Plus with a little water 20 minutes before main meals (3 times a day). You should swallow the capsule whole. If you are unable to swallow the capsule whole, you may open it and take the tablets separately. They should be swallowed whole without chewing, breaking, or crushing.<\/span><\/p>\n
